On Monday March 12th, 2007 the Fairfield Golf Commission approved a new Pace of Play Policy for H. Smith Richardson Golf Course.

Under this new system, every group that tees off from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. will be issued a Pace of Play Card that will indicate what time that group is expected to be on the next tee.

It was determined that the front 9 should be played in no more than 2 hours and 8 minutes and the back 9 should be completed in 2 hours and 7 minutes. When a group is discovered to be out of position on the golf course, a warning will be issued to the group and they will be asked to get back on pace. If, after two holes from the initial warning, the group is still off pace they will be asked to pick up their balls and proceed to a spot immediately behind the group in front of them. If the group falls off pace a third time, they will be asked to stand aside and let the groups behind them play through. The members of that group will then have their names placed on a Slow Play List which will be kept at the Pro Shop.

If a person's name is placed on the Slow Play List three times, that person will be restricted from obtaining a tee time prior to 2:00 p.m. for one month. This policy will take effect on April 1, 2007. The Golf Commission feels that this will make everyone's golfing experience at H. Smith Richardson more enjoyable.
